My amazing foodie weekend
Not that I've spent a whole weekend eating gourmet food. Not at all. However all the meals I've had during the weekend were amazing, very delicious even though not always looking good enough for me to take a picture. Starting with the best:
Friday evening going home to an amazing meal ready for me and served already! We had salmon with broccoli and shrimps.
Salmon & Shrimps on a Friday evening |
Definitely looks amazing and I can't even explain how magnificently delicious this was. I'm looking at the picture now and feel hungry again. The shrimps were magic! - cooked with garlic and white wine they were very fresh and therefore the taste was different. To compliment the meal I had a glass of the same white wine they were cooked it and it was the perfect combination! Even now I can feel the salmon melting in my mouth and it makes me close my eyes and get ready for my next perfect meal! Usually people use cheap wine when cooking as they don't want to waste the good (and expensive) wines for something like that but after all - you're not going to get a great meal unless you put great ingredients in it! So the wine was also very nice even though we're now getting in the red wine season.
My glass of wine on a Friday evening |
In order to spice it up a little bit I sometimes add a slice of lemon/ lime depending on the wine but I'm not a specialist so in case you have a better idea - I'm right here! I have also tried adding a small slice of apple but it doesn't affect the taste as much as the lemon does.
I know that people add more ice which melts in the glass, or Sprite to make it more tasty but I'm rarely into this.
Saturday was another "amazing meals!" Day! Just take a look at that perfect burger I had:
Fantastic burger! |
It's with fresh and delicious beef (from Ireland) and cheddar (from the UK) complimented with coleslaw salad which turned to be a very interesting combination. Also had fries and coleslaw salad separately and it was fantastic! I really love the way they prepare the burgers as the meat is amazing - it literally melts in my mouth and is very tasty! I know I say that very often but this is how I feel about my meals - they're amazing and fresh and this is why I want to share them - so that more people can try and have a happier life as food is definitely an important part of our lives and it has to feel great not only in the mouth but we also need to love the amazing smell of bacon and mince, the way the food is decorated and how it looks and whether it's healthy. Many people would say that the burger doesn't really fit into the last paragraph however I'm eating bread, high-quality meat and salad at the same time so I totally LOVE it!
Sunday was a day in which I only had one proper meal and it was salmon (yet again but I couldn't help myself) and noodles. It seemed to be a pretty interesting combination so I am prepared to do that again any time! I also added fresh salad - carrots and beetroot which could have been better had I added lemon/ orange. It would spice up the taste and make it more interesting. Another thing I love doing when making this salad is adding apple - we have them during the winter as well and there aren't many fresh salads which one can have in the cold months so adding a fruit makes it a completely different salad. Not everyone loves such a mix but it's healthy and delicious at the same time and most of all - still an option for a fresh meal!
Talking about delicious I also had a fresh juice made of apples and pears - it was amazing! A light sour combination which tasted amazing! Also tried orange and apple juice which was very refreshing too but without the sour part.
And now that the weekend is over and everyone's getting ready for another 5 days of hard work, I chose to celebrate the beginning of the new week with omelette including cucumbers, ham, soy sauce, savory and yellow cheese. It was one of the best combinations! Sorry it didn't turn out to be a masterpiece so I can't share a beautiful pic but was very delicious. I also had different types of cheese in the fridge so got almost all of them including my personal favorite - brie:
Mmmm cheese....! |
Complimented all this with a glass of white wine:

I used a glass for red wine -I like those a lot since they're bigger and fit in my hand in a very different way.
And now thinking about my next food journey - any suggestions?
