Kavos, Corfu
Welcome to the party capital of Corfu!
I felt like everything is
allowed here and I guess it really is.
Slowly driving into the busy
main street I felt related to the funny madness around me. From all party
places we could hear the music and everyone was dancing on the street. Clubs
are literally next to each other and their customers are meeting at the center
of the street, trying to dance in rhythm, pouring drinks and looking around
trying to find the most suitable person to take home tonight.
The atmosphere is extremely
vibrant and a little bit drunk. We arrived at around 1 o'clock in the evening
and there were already people sitting on the sidewalks or directly on the
street, holding their heads with hands or almost sleeping on someone else's
shoulder.
What I found the most
interesting and funny were the flirts. Girls were walking around in shorts and
some of them were so decent to put bathing suit to cover the upper parts of
their bodies however some were directly in their bras. Their chances of walking
all by themselves for even 5 minutes, were negligible - instantly someone from
the opposite sex would approach them to start a courteous chat. My favorite example
were two chicks, all wet - obviously they'd just left some party, trying to get
to their place. Dressed with shorts and bras by the way. One of them could
barely see what was going on around her by that time. From the group of guys
walking behind them, one hero instantly tried his luck with the amazing pick up
line "Why are you so wet, we just met?" :D
I was literally like LOL while
watching his attempts, but the ladies were not impressed.
In terms of prices it seemed
very decent to me and I guess this is the reason why everyone was already
knocked out by the time we decided to try our luck in Kavos. 2 cocktails costed
only 5 euros while 4 cocktails and a bow with some more alcoholic drinks were
10 euro.
So the party was already quite vivid
without huge spending. The best thing is that in Kavos in general it's not
expensive at all - full English breakfast would be from 1,90 - 2,50 euro. Which
makes this the perfect place for a budget holiday.
In the morning while we were drinking
our coffee at one of the beach bars (a great bar by the way and the beach
itself was fantastic, all photos are from there), a family with 2 kids
(approximate age 11-14), walked by us to reach the beach and a friend of mine
wondered what type of people would take their kids to such a place. But if we
take a look from a different perspective - until 11 o'clock in the morning
there was no one at the beach, which makes Kavos the perfect place if you like
sunbathing from very early in the morning but you don't really enjoy having people
all over the place, stepping on your towel, etc. My guess is that everyone
arrives at the beach at around 1-2 in the afternoon, because they need some
time to recover from the adventures during the night. And by the time the
families with kids are leaving the beach, the party animals are slowly starting
to arrive. Party people are still sunbathing while the families are having
dinner and by the time they're putting the kids to sleep, the night is just
beginning for the youngsters. So maybe it's not such an awful decision.
From my perspective - I would
go there for one party night. But keep in mind that there are no ladies with
gowns and heels. Shorts on top of the bathing suit, flip-flops, beach hair....
and hitting the clubs! So if you're looking for inexpensive entertainment and
you're fine with some tourist just in the end of his teens puking in the bushes
on the side, as well as enjoy being all day in your bathing suit and going to
the beach whenever you feel like it and still manage to get a spot there -
Kavos is the perfect place!
