Kamen Donev - The ruler of the Theater!

I had the great pleasure to attend Kamen Donev's performance called "Za Svatbite" (Weddings)! It was amazingly fun, fresh and full of national folklore. Had a great time during the national dances and songs which brought a unique feeling of tradition in one of the newest sports halls in Bulgaria.  He again proved to be a spectacular performer who can easily enchant the audience and create the opportunity for everyone to find something heart-melting! One of the best things about the unique experience - a couple from the audience was welcomed on stage!  The performance was split into different chapters and went on about how the weddings used to be arranged, how the couple would meet, how the families would negotiate the wedding and then the culmination was of course the wedding itself and all events that would happen around it. To tell the story of the typical wedding, he would tell the small story of each event from day one till the day of the wedding itself. One

More of the WINE Tastings, please!

I do love wine -it's amazing, there are so many different types, it can be enjoyed both with a book and cheese as well as with large groups of friends and many meats delights! It can be chilled or consumed at room temperature, you can have it with or without any add-ons like Sprite/ Ice/ Water.... It's the perfect drink!  Bulgaria is one of the first great wine producers, however is not as famous as France and Italy for example. There are many typically Bulgarian styles which can only be found in specific parts of the country. Everyone who knows more about wine can confirm that the geography is one of the most important components and has a huge impact so the best thing to do at the DiVino Wine Tasting was to try typical Bulgarian Wines. Of course, many exhibitors try different varieties, including amazing combinations, but it's always great to go for the traditional wine to make sure you know what's typical. Many of the exhibitors could offer types which are n

I'm in LOVE with Shoes

Image
I do!  I do love shoes! Don't get me wrong, I'm not the type of person who enjoys crazy styles and I'm usually very mainstream and ordinary and choose basics for my daily outfits and simple yet stylish dresses for going out in the evenings.  I love the idea of wearing for example a simple skinny grey dress and combine it with amazing red stilettos and red accessories or a simple white chiffon blouse with skinny jeans and a rocking pair of heels!  The pair of shoes I totally fell for at the Shoes Exhibit at Paradise center is the below one:  I'm so in love I can rock these with jeans or with a black dress - the red will be the accent in the outfit and will make this a garb to remember!  Anyway, I'm not such a fashionista, but I do like to dress up so I went to the shoes exhibit. There were many different pairs and honestly - I believe that some of them are only meant to be worn during fashion shows as I can't imagine putting on something as

A Magical Day with the Magic Exhibit

Image
Had an amazing free day during which went to Paradise Center in Sofia. There you can enjoy a funny exhibit of old "magic"tricks which magicians used to perform for their audience.  There I saw a huge rabbit in a hat which looked a little bit strange and was not a magic trick you can try by yourself but everything else was.  There was a fun optical illusion. You can sit and wonder how come the child looks bigger than the adult and the mystery is solved. The trick is that 2 people - an adult and a child stand next to the picture on the wall - the child is on the right and the adult - on the left hand side but they both seem equally tall. Optical illusion Also - the Davenport brothers' magic was explained! Had amazing time and tried the different facilities, took pictures and laughed a lot!  Davenport brothers' magic You can also solve the mystery of the floating table and the head on a plate illusion which are both very funny. I've hea

Mmmm... Whiskey

Image
I managed to attend the whiskey fest in Sofia this year! I'm very excited as I did manage to try different brands and amazing tastes! Wooden Barrel in Paradise Center  There were many controversial opinions. For example - I tried Chivas Regal Extra which I believe was simply amazing however I was not really fond of the Auchentoshan however my partner believes it is an amazing whiskey and couldn't believe I didn't fancy it! Therefore I got to the conclusion that obviously all whiskey tastes are amazing however which one would each person prefer, depends entirely on their personal choice and taste. I fell for more tasty and sometimes even sweet whiskeys. Other of the choices I loved: Lauder's Jim Beam Apple Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey The Grand Macnish Six Cask Edition Tasting glasses: We went outside for a smoke and enjoyed our whiskey at the top of the Sofia Event Center terrace What the Whiskey Fest gave me:  I had

My amazing foodie weekend

Image
Not that I've spent a whole weekend eating gourmet food. Not at all. However all the meals I've had during the weekend were amazing, very delicious even though not always looking good enough for me to take a picture. Starting with the best:  Friday evening going home to an amazing meal ready for me and served already! We had salmon with broccoli and shrimps.  Salmon & Shrimps on a Friday evening Definitely looks amazing and I can't even explain how magnificently delicious this was. I'm looking at the picture now and feel hungry again. The shrimps were magic! - cooked with garlic and white wine they were very fresh and therefore the taste was different. To compliment the meal I had a glass of the same white wine they were cooked it and it was the perfect combination! Even now I can feel the salmon melting in my mouth and it makes me close my eyes and get ready for my next perfect meal! Usually people use cheap wine when cooking as they don't want to

Reaching back in history in the Sofia History Museum

Image
It's a place dedicated entirely to the history of the capital where you can see how the city changes and grows from at least 7000 BCE till today. The exhibition follows the historical order and is very easy to enjoy and really tourist-friendly with documentaries projected on the walls with both Bulgarian and English narrators. It's impressive to see the exhibition but it's also nice to enjoy what the narrators have to say- curious facts in an easy to understand language.  There are numerous halls dedicated to different time periods and things to see- from icons to a Mercedes and a train. One of the six I found out with surprise that Tsar Boris III was a huge fan and had 6 of those babies. One of them can be seen in the museum and honestly - it seems to be in a very good shape! I was personally impressed the most by the halls which represented the recent days - there were fantastic presents given to a Bulgarian prince or tsar by other countries' rulers

Lord of the dance - a unique experience

Image
The dance masters came to Sofia recently and offered a unique experience for their fans! The hall was full and everyone enjoyed it! They come every year and this time they performed "Dangerous Games"which was so impressive that I couldn't take my eyes of the stay! Even had doubts whether it was proper to blink! Such an experience is once in a lifetime and the reason is that the group dynamic can be different every time. I've been to a mono spectacle of one of Bulgaria's best actors and was thrilled however people I know didn't seem to enjoy the play so I do believe that each performance is unique! The show includes songs by a beautiful lady with very gentle and nice voice, violin performances and of course - fabulous dances! Performing Dangerous Games Dangerous games Right before the interlude

Magnificent mountain scenery - Explore Litochoro

Image
On the third day the weather was not suitable for a lazy beach day so we decided to see what's there to do in the resort. We opted for a mount Olympus visit and it was amazing! Very beautiful and even though it was rather chilly we still had great time! We got to the mountain with the cars and had a quick walk to the waterfall - it's small and noisy and quite fresh! We walked less than an hour and the path finished straight in it. At the beginning of the path there was a very nice guy selling magnets who was from Bulgaria and we chatted for a while - he was the one to tell us about the waterfall and was great with the instructions! The waterfall It's not the biggest we've seen but yet it's very refreshing! After that we went back and had the option to take a photo of this great view: Very impressive! On the way down we managed to take a look at a monastery with beautiful church:  So even though it was the last d

Bellagio Hotel, Fourka - relaxing gardens and pool

Image
In Fourka I booked the Bellagio hotel for a 7 night All Inclusive holiday. Looked like the best option cost-wise and the location still looked very nice - close to the beach, with own pool and on AI. Besides, before booking anything I always check the reviews from customers who have already been there just to make sure what I'm looking at.  We found it easily and parked at the hotel's own parking - it was free of charge and there was enough space for the guest cars. It's located right behind the rooms, in the forest.  We had 3 meals each day - breakfast, lunch and dinner including the drinks at all times - in the restaurant and from the bar. Surprisingly there wasn't a huge variety of alcoholic drinks - I expected ouzo and other typical Greek delights however there were none. We had choice between beer and wine, which was fine with me however we expected more considering it was All Inclusive and not Full Board Plus.  Food - it was nice, they tried to pr

Things to do in Fourka

Image
Fourka is a small village located on the first peninsula of Halkidiki- Kassandra. It's very nice when looking for a relaxing break and for 7 nights there I only saw one bar - open every night with no customers at around 9-10 pm so not sure if it's suitable for a wild vacation. However it has an amazing location as it's close to the nearby beaches - within 15 kilometers you can locate the Kallitheas, Siviri and Possidi beaches which are all extremely famous! So for 7 nights we managed to visit a total of 5 Greece beaches - we went to 1 of them - Fourka beach by foot - it was within an 8 minutes walk from the hotel we were staying at; then to Kallitheas, Siviri and Possidi by car and we also managed to visit Toroni beach thanks to our Kassandra cruise . View from the sunbed at the bar During one of the days the weather was not perfect so the best we could do was enjoy our time near the pool and hope that it will get better. We had mainly Greek music from the bar and

Explore Litochoro - Day 2

Image
On our second day in Litochoro we had great time by the pool!  It was amazing with nice weather and relatively cold pool water. It seems like the perfect time of the year to get tan as in the hot summer months - June, July and August it's too hot - it feels like the sun is burning a whole through my skin which is a very strange feeling!  We didn't have lunch as part of the package which was still alright as we still wanted to explore the place. Our hotel was not located in the resort center, we were very close to the beach and sea so if we wanted to go to the actual city we had to use the cars. We went there by car anyway so we didn't have any issues with this.  After dinner we decided to explore the resort and try the local restaurants even though we had dinner at the hotel. Quite frankly - it was not the best of the dinners. We do like food of great quality and one of us has a business dedicated to great sea food so we did want to see how the locals would do i

Explore A Beach! - Kallitheas!

Image
Love Summer15 ? How about a beach exploration journey? This summer I went to a couple of beaches including the Kallitheas beach in Greece! Amazing waters and there were so many people and still it was peaceful and relaxing: Many beach bars - in Greece it's easy to get a sunbed and an umbrella - you just order coffee and you're ready to go! People are very nice and of course very friendly when it comes to the tourists! if you can visit the beach - definitely do! There are suitable places to leave the car at so certainly there is no need to worry about it! And you can totally spend the whole day at the beach - you can order food, drinks, anything you may need and enjoy the amazing water! It's crystal clear and you can see small fishes enjoying life as it is! The weather during our stay was sunny and with very light wind which made it seem even hotter. We went there at the end of June and had great time - there were many people and as yet it was still clean and

Explore Koral

Image
Koral is an amazing beach very close to Lozenetz with absolutely no bars, umbrellas, sunbeds. Nothing. The beach is completely concession free which makes it extremely wild and perfect for the most relaxing, budget and stress-free day on the beach. Just because no one is taking care of the beach, it doesn't necessarily mean that you should avoid it. Exactly the opposite - the people who visit the beach obviously realize that it's important to keep it clean and thanks to that there is no rubbish anywhere on the beach. It's an amazing long shore and the water is clean and shiny so this is the best place to enjoy a quite day on a marvelous beach. Here is a picture of the amazing shore. The road to there is not the perfect one so be prepared. There are parking spots though - we managed to park nearly on the road, there is a small area to leave the car but in the woods there is a camping so some of the guests were leaving the cars within meters to the beach. Wake Up! - Varvara Day 2

Image
Had a second day at the Wake Up beach. It is amazing and I couldn't stop myself from visiting it again. This time the water was not as clean as the previous day, however the place was still as wild and great!  As I have already tried the yoga, this time I decided that I can skip it and try something new instead. Krassen still had a group and everyone is always welcomed to join, it's a very open event, however I was  not in a workout mode.  Instead I wanted to take a walk on the cliffs and be able to enjoy the view from there! Looked amazing!  I also like to try something new and see a different view or the same from a different angle as this gives amazing opportunities. Taking a walk on the cliffs on the left, I followed a path between the trees and bushes and if you follow it to the end you will be able to enjoy the same view - there is a very small secluded area where the sea touches the shore and manages to transform the rocks into pebble beach. I

Wake Up! - Varvara Journey

Image
Varvara is a great place very close to Lozenetz - small and with an amazing beach! It's not the typical Black Sea resort in Bulgaria as there are almost no hotels and it's a simple, plain village. Which makes it so adorable and desirable for the stay! Looking for a relaxing break- perfect! Great accommodation in a small village where everyone is very nice and the local people don't have to only think about the tourists as this is not the typical tourist spot. The beach is literally tiny and amazing. It's like a piece of paradise - with amazing beach bar and a free zone. At the beach bar territory guests are not allowed to use their personal umbrellas, food and beverages however they actually do from time to time which is still okay. Yet, the bar offers everything one needs- alcoholic and soft drinks, salads, BBQ, fruits and the people who work there are so nice! A huge plus - wondering how to start the day in an energetic and positive way? Go for the morning yoga wit

Lozenetz Journey

Image
Currently on a vacation in Lozenetz, Bulgaria. The sea is dirty as per the new reports so I'm not risking it! Today I tried the Oasis reort's beach which was very nice and glamorous! Two sundebds and an umbrella cost 30 leva which is too much according to me however this is the closest clean beach to the hotel. Had a bottle of water which is 4.50 leva for 1 liter (at least it's Devin and not Bankia which doesn't taste good enough to me), I had pasta for lunch - 13 leva, a can of Coke for 4 leva and a big "Menta"- an alcoholic drink with mint taste, very fresh and popular especially for the sea months- is 6 leva. I also had a chocolate shake which was 7 leva. Yes. The beautiful beach with clean water IS indeed expensive.  However we spent there the whole day and the guy taking payments for the sundebds is very nice to the customers. We sat near the Delete beach bar & dinner where we got all the drinks from and where I also had lunch. The waitress di
